I’m sure you’ll notice (if this isn’t your first visit), that LeilaReads looks just a tiny bit different than it did a couple of weeks ago.
Here’s what you missed (don’t feel bad, you’re here now):
I’ve always kinda had a complex about the look of my blog. I’ve mentioned it in a post on blog envy and on a BookBlogWriMo post. I don’t have much design sense, and I’d really rather not spend a ton of time trying to get the site to look just right.
The result: Creative Whim to the rescue! Ashley designed this beautiful custom theme just for me. There’s literally nothing I can do to mess it up. It has a handy-dandy reset button to fix any unfortunate or unintentional changes. The theme options panel is blessedly simple.
The process was super simple. Just over two weeks from start to install. I filled out a form with what I wanted (or in my case a note saying I had no idea what I wanted) and some examples of sites with designs I love. I put down a deposit and Ashley got to work. She did six mock-ups before we got to the perfect design you see here. Oh, and then I paid the rest of the fee, of course. She’s also designing some other graphics for me, so there’s a whole cohesive look to the LeilaReads “brand.”
In terms of confidence alone, the custom theme is well worth it. But I also think (and have had feedback that agrees) that the blog is more readable. I often don’t read blogs that aren’t visually appealing. So I wanted to make sure I wasn’t one of those.
I am just so proud of LeilaReads now. Enjoy the pretty!
