The Shopping Diet by Phillip Bloch

Oh, my God, what a waste of time!

I bought this book on my NOOKColor because, to be frank, I have a shopping problem.  I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a shopaholic, but I do spend more than I should.  I guess those childhood days of getting whatever I wanted whenever I wanted did not help me develop an idea of the value of money.  Anyway, it’s something I’m working on.

I thought this book was going to give guidelines on how to cut back on shopping.  It actually turned out to be more of a fashion how-to guide.  The book starts by walking the reader through a major closet cleanup, including how to decide what to keep and what to get rid of.  Considering I had already done this recently, this was the beginning of the wasting of my time.  But because I hate leaving a book unfinished, I pushed on.

Next, the author goes on to tell the reader the basic items that that should be in the closet of any fashion-conscious woman (sorry, but this book was clearly written for women, although the author is a man.  This is nothing new, something that has already been covered much more effectively in many other books, the best in my opinion are the Lucky guidebooks.

If you’re looking for fashion advice, this is the book for you.  I wasn’t looking for a fashion book, so I say…

Leave it.
