Warning: This post is extremely warm and fuzzy.
I’ve been thinking recently about stats. Yes, I know I’ve said before that I don’t blog for the sake of stats. And I truly don’t. But I can’t help but marvel at the fact that 57 of you subscribe to this blog by email. That 126 follow on Bloglovin’ and 472 on Twitter. I know to a lot of other bloggers those are pretty small numbers. But to me they are enormous.
What these numbers tell me is that dozens of people care what I think. Or at least care enough to add me emails to their ever-growing inboxes and already over-crowded feeds. And considering my own criteria for following people, it’s more than flattering. I’m downright honored.
As my readership grows, more and more opportunities are open to me. I’ve been getting more approvals for amazing advance copies and receiving direct review request from authors (which are also extremely flattering). I’m actually turning some of them down with the confidence that I don’t have to accept every single advance copy I’m offered. My confidence grows every day, which (I think) allows me to take more risks and do more and (I hope) interesting things.
